Make Way for the Monster Mosque in Londonistan II Some now call London the "Muslim capital of Europe." And now London could be home to the largest Mosque outside of the Middle East. ooo OOO ooo Melanie Phillips, a British journalist, commentator and author, whose columns appear in the UK in the Daily Mail and who writes a blog at www.melaniephillips.com. She is the author of the new book Londonistan. ooo OOO ooo FP: So what inspired you to write Londonistan? Phillips: I was just appalled by the fact that, not only had Britain become the key European hub of Islamist extremism and terrorism during the 1990s under the noses of the British authorities, but even after both 9/11 and last year's suicide bombings in London the British political and security establishment is still appeasing Islamist extremism, and remains in a state of... Civil War in Lebanon لبنان News Anchor slams Hezbollah The only woman who comes to mind while watching this video of Lebanese TV presenter Sahar Al-Khatib is Wafa Sultan. I have never seen any other woman in the Arab world with the poise and the you-know-what to put the terrorists in their place. In this clip, which was shown (apparently live) on Lebanon's LBC TV on May 9 (this past Friday) Al-Khatib blasts Lebanon's opposition leaders (Hezbullah and Amal) following the shutting down of the pro-government Future TV by the supposedly neutral Lebanese army and Hezbullah. If this woman is willing to talk to Israelis (unlike the crying fool who is Lebanon's Prime Minister), I'll bet we could find her work with a much more open media here in Israel. I'd go to bat for her. Tags: Anchor, Civil, Hezbollah, in, Lebanese, Lebanon, news, NewsFromIslam, presenter, slams, TV, War, لبنان |

Peak Oil - 45min. documentary See full film here: http://www.booserver.com/projects.php?ProjectID=3030 September 2006 Is the age of cheap oil about to come to an end? According to many experts, we are about to reach the point of "peak oil" -- the level at which supply can no longer keep up with demand. This, say the doomsayers, could send economies spinning into turmoil and up-end our comfortable, urban lifestyles. But others claim predictions like this are simply scaremongering. They believe supply will match demand for decades to come. So who's telling the truth? 'Peak Oil' investigates. Tags: alternative, demand, fuels, high, Journeyman, oil, Pictures, supply, world |

Israel's Nuclear WMD Part 1/4 Mordechai Vanunu, Israel's nuclear whistleblower, was jailed in 1986 for publishing photographs of Israel's nuclear bomb factory at Dimona. His revelations confirmed that Israel was building advanced nuclear weapons. After the Sunday Times published this scoop, Vanunu was lured to Italy and kidnapped by Mossad agents and illegally smuggled back to Israel. He was tried in secret and convicted of treason and spying. Vanunu spent 17 years in jail, 11 of which were in a minute solitary confinement cell . Israel never confirms or denies claims that it has nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. The country positions itself outside international treaties, which would make it subject to inspection. The Global Great Game Grand explanations of how to understand the complex twenty-first century world have all fallen short-until now. In The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order, Parag Khanna shows how America's dominant moment has quickly been replaced by a geopolitical marketplace where the European Union and China compete with the U.S. to shape world order on their own terms. The primary battlefield is the Second World, regions lying between the three leading empires and the third world: Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and East Asia. Second World countries could rise into the first world or fall into the third-their future is precarious and uncertain, but their resources are the critical assets for the three expanding superpowers. China's Boomers This summer's public revelation that China has constructed two or more new ballistic missile submarines raises a number of strategic, operational and bureaucratic questions about the future of nuclear arsenals held by China and the United States. How China deploys and operates these systems, as well as how the United States responds, will significantly impact the stability of deterrence in the Pacific. The New America Foundation invites you to join five national security scholars as they participate in a round-table discussion on the subject of whether China's deterrent will go to sea and what that means for U.S. national security. As these questions play out over the next decade, these five experts are well poised to understand and inform the debate in the public sphere and policy arena. Macedonia : The layout of ancient Pella Encyclopedia Brittanica: Learn about the significant layout of the ancient city of Pella. The city was founded by Archelaus (413--399 BC) as the capital of his kingdom, replacing the older palace-city of Aigai (Vergina). After this, it was the seat of the king Philip II and of Alexander, his son. In 168 BC, it was sacked by the Romans, and its treasury transported to Rome. Later, the city was destroyed by an earthquake and eventually was rebuilt over its ruins. By 180 AD, Lucian could describe it in passing as "now insignificant, with very few inhabitants". Pella is first mentioned by Herodotus of Halicarnassus (VII, 123) in relation to Xerxes' campaign and by Thucydides (II, 99,4 and 100,4) in relation to Macedonian expansion and the war against Sitalces, the king of the Thracians.... India's War in the Woods The 78-kilometer road between Sukma and Konta is nearly deserted. Scores of villages, once bustling with tribal life, are now vacant. Across the rough orange and green terrain of the nearby forests, hundreds of other villages similarly have been abandoned. Tens of thousands of tribal people are simply gone. This is not war-torn Afghanistan or Sudan. This is central India, where super sleek call centers and software factories have brought millions of poor into the modern middle class. But the country's drive to become a first world power has left many of its most vulnerable behind and frozen economic development across swaths of this vast country. At its most extreme and most dangerous — in remote forested areas — a four-decade-long rebellion has erupted into violent intimidation,... Britain, America, and the Making of the Modern World The great story of modern world history is the rise of a global system of power, commerce, finance, culture, and ideology resting first on the power of Britain and now on that of America.
